More fun with Season Two . . .
Episode 14: The Whole Tooth And . . .
Here's the best look we get at the controls for the Cone of Silence . . .
Thanks to poster jhusel on the RPF Prop Maker Forum, we know this is a 666 B Western Electric speakerphone box. Western Electric was founded in Ohio in 1856. The company was a leading innovator in electric communication. The company was briefly acquired by Western Union, before being sold to Alexander Graham Bell's AT&T in 1881 as part of the consolidation of the phone industry. Western Electric remained an AT&T business for over 100 years, with the last remnants of the business disappearing as part of the Lucent spinoff in 1996.
Here's an establishing shot the show got right - the bus station is Union Station in DC. Primarily a railroad station, it is also a major bus service hub.
The architecture is little changed today.
Here's a restaurant, possibly a tiki restaurant by the outside decor?
The officer is wearing a Chicago Police Dept. patch. It's not totally clear in the episode, but I think this part of the episode is supposed to take place there.
We get some interesting prison footage in this episode. Here is the Illinois State Penitentiary in Joliet.
Opened in 1858, the prison was closed in 2002, with the buildings considered obsolete and dangerous. Now it is used, among other things, for film and TV shoots.
Some more footage, not sure if this is Joliet or another prison. Probably not Joliet.
A shot of the prison yard. One prisoner has a backgammon board.
Episode 15: Kiss of Death
There are a lot of wine and liquor bottles over the course of the series. I imagine many of them are prop labels. This one looks pretty realistic. As a bonus, the label's color goes well with the girl's dress and the man's boot.
Episode 16: It Takes One to Know One
A new Gemini poster in the CONTROL lab.
Here's the full poster: Man Maneuvers Moonward.
Episode 18: Cutback at CONTROL
A poster for Allegheny Trail is visible. I believe this is a made-up production.
Episode 21: The Man from Yenta
While Dulles International Airport was used for some previous episodes, here we get a shot of Washington National Airport.
Here it is today.
Episode 22: Smart Fit the Battle of Jericho
Construction of an unknown building.
Las Vegas Strip
As the casinos have moved into newer, larger buildings, this section is a lot quieter today.
For the German newspaper, the prop department used a very old copy of "Kölnische Zeitung". This newspaper ceased publication in 1945.
Some more Aristocrat slot machines in the casino.
