Season 3, Episode 20: The Wax Max

Pacific Ocean Park was built on a pier in Santa Monica in 1958. The joint venture between CBS and the Hollywood Racing Club was intended to compete with Disneyland, and at it's peak had almost 2 million visitors a year. In the mid-1960s it began losing customers, and it closed in 1967. Before and after the park closed it was used as the site for many TV shows and movies, including this Get Smart episode. The park was torn down in 1975; as it was built on a pier, nothing remains except for some underwater pilings.

Though there are not traces of the park today, this episode did give a nice tour through the park.

These shots help give a feel of what it might have been like to walk through this park.
